ENLIGHTENMENT
We are intoxicated with knowing, Through tenuous days, On a nomadic quest, There is joy to be had. All of the world’s treasures, Cannot fill a void, More fully than this. Mysteries have unraveled, And nothing matters more, Than the awakening of dawn. When all else pales, A great shining force, Empowers us and keeps us whole. We have drunk from a mighty cup, And have been graced with one truth. It shall sustain our beings, Until time has rendered us anew.

UNDER THE LENS
Life now dissected, Observed macro close-up, Leaders with hands as dirty as their minds. Lies and crimes and cover-ups, Rock the foundations of our glass houses, Which soon may implode upon themselves. Our minds are graffitied with seamy visions, Tragic how the trust has waned. The eye of scrutiny misses nothing, And we are left naked to bask in our shame.

FAIRYTALE LOVERS
Have I tread unknowingly, Across the threshold of a dream, Swept into the pages of my childhood fairytale book? I think not, and yet…. I glide on the air with gossamer wings, Dressed in white lace, Leaping and pirouetting in a dance, Performed by a prima ballerina. And you, so masterfully await my every turn, Knowing exactly how I will move across the stage. Your love blows gently over my body like a summer breeze. Caressing, comforting, capturing my soul And vaulting it upward in the bliss of rapture. If this is not the fabric of dreams and fairytales, Then I am the subject of Fate’s folly, And I know not what lies ahead in her great scheme. You, my love, are the essence of a dream. You have taken time and space And made them your instruments: And, you walk with me through Fields of fantasy and illusion, To a primordial past, Where we are one with ancient sands, And flowing streams, And we carve our images on granite walls As rivers of time etch theirs In the great sculptural masses. I am at once, a princess, A poet, a dancer, a sculptress. I am a painter of surreal landscape, And with every brush stroke, A vision comes more clearly into focus Of a new world we have not yet explored. You are my prince, my master My soul’s refuge and playmate. And, if we are living a page from the script of Fate Or one fashioned by our own creation, It matters not. For we will never be without the memory of this moment, And, our souls will meet often to recall The pleasure of their journey.

WATER CYCLE
For a moment, I immerse myself, In amniotic contentment, Then float to the surface, In an attempt to rescue my breath. I drift in melancholy madness, With currents which draw me Toward an unknown end. The jagged edges of things, Puncture my bliss, And mercilessly pull me toward them, As rapids of suffocating confusion, Toss me in all directions, And I struggle to gain control. Refuge in brief estuaries, Offer reflections of hope, From clouds in time-lapse motion. Before a whirlpool, Sucks me down, Once more into the womb.

PATCHES
Paranoia and progesterone, Pulsing from patches, Precursors promise no pain. Freedom from mood swings? My tolerance waivers, The closer we move toward Stepford. Will we become those, we fear and loathe, With patches that make us forget? A nightmare where free will And thoughts are controlled, By those who would rule us with pleasure. Beware of the signs of things to come, I’m skeptical of small lethal doses, That numb the agony, Steal our dreams, And rob us of discontent.

ODE TO THE ALL
You are the macrocosm, And the microcosm. You are the sub-atomic, And the intergalactic Being of Light. You transcend the boundaries of dimension, And are untethered by the Constraints of time and space. I am but an infinitesimal Spark of Thee, Drawn to the magnetic core Of Thy wisdom and perfection. I seek the answers to ancient mysteries, Buried in the sands, And carried by the winds. A fire inside burns eternal, Never quenched until it Shall one day be one with Thee. You guide my every creative gesture, In an act performed Over countless millennia, By far more gifted players. The greatest of the greats, Among the arts and sciences, Have owed their genius, To the spark that burns eternal. My destiny lies in You. For you are the All. Within the realms of the stone, I can only glimpse The wonder and the might. And be transported, If only for a moment, To Your presence.

MASS DESTRUCTION
Life surges out of control, With a total disregard for existence. Recklessness cuts violently back and forth, Across the lazy lanes of freedom, As terror looms at every turn. Thrill-seekers compound the hazards of the journey, Like rabid dogs, they bite at the heels of the innocent, Paralyzing them with fear and helplessness, As carnage lies strewn across the landscape. Testimonials spew forth in a media frenzy, Where images record the moment that Life is sucked out, And all chance of peace is laid waste. Angry mobs chant, as borders lie unprotected. Fanaticism threatens the tranquility of dawn. Grief rips out the hearts of those who care, That childhoods are stolen and buried before their eyes, And victims are virtually lining the streets.

THE TIME CAPSULE
Forever inscribed....... On the consciousness of humanity, We indelibly leave our mark, Encoded in a serpent's helix. Within a time capsule so infinitely small, We record our every thought and every gesture, From the wise to the insane, From the meek to the courageous. It is a legacy as ancient and expansive, As the universe itself, And a ritual replicated over countless millennia, Entrusting to each strand, The history of all.

MY THOUGHTS ARE RIVERS
Some rivers meander carelessly, While others forge violently, Through canyons, Sculpting and polishing rock, As if they know their purpose. My thoughts are rivers flowing, Direction and priorities, Are gauged by their ability, To navigate the complex, Terrain of life, Over rapids of confusion, And falls of failure, Into calm estuaries, The brief moments recapturing, The essence of being, And I drift in amniotic contentment, Translating my wanderings, Into inadequate words.

THE BOTTLENECK
My tempestuous nature, Foments desperation under the pressure, As if it is pressed beneath a champagne cork, Awaiting the moment of release. Too much angst and unknowing, Is harbored in this place. I cry out in my terror, Unheard and anxious, For an end to the nightmare, And comfort from my festering pain. Confined in my own vessel, I grieve and grimace. I am tossed on waves of liquid discontent, Searching for a buoy, on which to stay afloat.

PISCES
I remain..... True to my sign, Slightly courting the profane, To always know its aim And render it benign. ©Victoria Frazior January 2010
ILLUSIONARY ALCHEMY
Thrust into a dimensional void, Between two worlds, Where all magic ceased to exist, There was but one last hope of escape, From the blackness of space and time. Visions were imaged, In the alchemy of the mind, Transcending those thresholds, Locked tightly away, By unknown forces, Whose sole purpose, Was to keep them captive.

THE SHELL GAME
A stealthy play, A sleight of hand, The money's gone, At his command. Hidden in the secret place, Where none can see, The whole disgrace. Sticky fingers, Slippery tongue, A power grab, That's next to none. We will be robbed, It is his aim, To trick the land, In this shell game.

DOMESTIC TURMOIL
He held her captive, A slave to the master. She was enraged By his lack of respect. Yet fame seduced her And blinded the victim With pomp and flash, And left her an empty shell Broken on the floor, Yoke spilling out From all sides. He did not suffer...... For he had another Half dozen to go.

SYMBIOTIC MELANCHOLIA
They were immersed in one another, More than just 'joined at the hip'. Like the blood fluke, She lived inside of him. But fears grew larger than life, And the darkness became her home. The anger surmounted the feelings of safety, When all of her SELF, Was drowning in chaos. She made her escape, From this great flooded realm, To find her own destiny, On the parched land below.

FRAGILE THREADS
Our lives, embroidered into the fabric of time, Nearly invisible in the length and breadth of space; We execute our creation, stitch by stitch Hoping for glory in its making. We bind our memories, Our dreams and our hopes, In tiny fragile threads, Across the uncertain terrain of our lives. Together we find courage and strength, To face our task at hand, Seeking solace in our quest As those who have the eyes to see And the ears to hear.

CONQUERING DARKNESS
“Divide and conquer” is their aim, To solidify and stake the claim, Regulate ‘til we can’t breathe, Stoke the fire and make us seethe. Then, when we have had enough, Those with thin skin, will get tough. Bearing arms of every kind, We’ll fight against the other mind. “Know thine enemy!”, we will say And “Live to fight another day!”. It is the curse of those who care, That we will have this cross to bear, And bring the world into the Light, Out of darkness…out of night. Did you know, it is the hour, To seize control and take the power, From the dark and evil crew… Those who rob the Light from you? “Divide and conquer” is their aim, To put out the Eternal Flame. This land of freedom must endure, We’re losing it…you can be sure, If those who care do not provide, The Evil Ones who sneaked inside, Will rule, as if they owned the place, And make us serve, beyond disgrace. A daunting task…it is for sure, But Freedom is the only cure, To keep the Light from dying out, The rally cry, we soon will shout. Those who hear, will save the day, So all can thrive and see the way. My work is done, to light the fuse, Spreading these prophetic truths, It is my need to free the word, So the Universal Mind is heard. Now I’ll leave it in your hands, We’ll conquer darkness, as it stands.

An Ode to Dark Matter
O invisible, cohesive plasma, You bind all creation, Into an orb of oneness, Your bond: elastic, everlasting, ever- changing. And yet, you are unknown and unseen.
Dark Matter..... Tender and violent, Forming the elements, By your very presence.
Like a sculptor's hands, On lumps of clay, You mold and transform, With infinite perfection.
We are subject to your whims, And victims of your folly. Nothing can escape your grasp.
You govern the stars and the tides.
Like a mitochondrial masterpiece, You float about the Universe, Forming, shaping, transporting, The elements of life.
Not understanding, I trespass the boundaries of the unknown, To question..... And stand in awe of your passion and grandeur.

RIDERS OF THE LIGHT
The soul seeks refuge and reclamation, In a state of silence, It lies in suspended animation Awaiting a Redeemer, Who will once more Breathe life into the hollow darkness. From out of nowhere, A symbol and a lesson Burst forth from the gloom. A teacher from a past life Illuminates the moment with a display of lights. Beams shine forth, Four white, one blue; Blue…. being at the center of the four. As the perspective shifts focus Vertical columns claim their real estate in the darkness. Travelers ascend the platform to ride the light And transcend the boundaries of time.

ONLY REMNANTS
Pain, sleeplessness, persistent unknowing, Life drains from my body, The last drops of youth. The vitality and sanctity of spirit, Once a part of me, Have been extinguished by a dispassionate god, Who finds no reason to intervene. You say there are lessons to be learned in Trial and suffering, Sacrifice and denial build character in us all; But, temperance and tolerance, Have given in to selfishness and cynicism. I sense no way to recover from this loss. Tragically, hopelessly, paralyzed by fear, Life forges ahead out of control, Leaving in its wake, The remnants of my once radiant vessel.

ALONE
They could not understand, Their sentiment and unity, Gauged their contempt. Their careless comedy waged war, Against a fragile ego. It sapped strength from a tender soul. Tears welled up and pressed forward, Unable to release their transparent presence. Like shallow pools they simply, Dried up without a trace.

DESERT PRISON
My self-imposed purgatory, Crushes my spirit, Coiling around my suffocating discontent, The penance for past transgressions, Becomes my prison, And I remain my own jailer. Destitute in a desert of fear, Blind to viable options, I flounder miserably, On the parched landscape.

FORGOTTEN IN TIME?
We are all defective, Perched on the brink of devastation, Our sanity has reached its breaking point, Our worth has been calculated, And we are without value. We are not appreciated, We are not necessary, Our cries are not heard, And we are alone. Though we try to make sense of it, There are too many wounds festering. They do not allow healing or closure, Or closeness, to stifle the pain. Is there hope to cling to, in this time of despair? Life is running out of options, Humanity has reached the edge of an abyss. Will it fall into the vastness of time, And be forgotten?

FROZEN….
I suspend my being in a self-induced coma, Awaiting my fate with tiny, shallow breaths, Noticing the paradox in two lives. One which savors every new morn, The other, who dreads the dawn of day. Trust has waned and shattered on the floor, Like a mirror reflecting back a sardonic face. Empty promises rake away the once fertile soil, Rendering it dried and desolate, as a desert landscape. Joy is not meant to be, For I have tried in vain to savor its warmth. I have asked only to make honesty and fairness the gods of choice. But, my soul has been ripped out, And lies exposed on the frozen tundra. Others laid waste to my fortunes, You laid waste to my soul.

ZOMBIES
Watch the parade of desperate housewives, disfigured by over-zealous surgeons, In a just attempt at eternal youth. How sad and plastic they look, While husbands lust like carnivores, After their nubile prey. They cannot satisfy their hunger for the tempting flesh. But wives are resilient, When they can use the catch for blackmail…. A new car?.... Jewelry? …..Maybe a new face of the month?... It only takes money, And lack of a soul, To drug oneself into a painless existence.

THE CARNIVAL
Round and round, Whirling and twirling, Colors run in motion blurring. Caught in a warp of dizzying madness. Testing the limits of sanity. How do I face the incessant chaos? Rendering frame by frame of the scene. In hours of patient and painful longing, Searching for a lasting solution to the game.

TIDES OF FATE
Tidal waves approach, Monumental in scale They surge forward, Threatening to devour, The hopes and dreams, Of all in their path. Time has been hijacked, And disaster looms, Like a pregnant monster, Ready to unleash its offspring, On a vacant and lost generation.

VAGRANTS
Familiar faces, Among the strange, Lost souls, Amid the born agains. Chances are slim, When luck runs out, And too many roads, Lead to NOWHERE. Opportunity Turned a blind eye, To passing gamblers, Who placed their bets, On risky ventures. Their empty stares, Attest to the void, And their downward spiral, Has ended in a puddle, Of insolvent grief.

RUNNING ON EMPTY
What is this madness??..... Why prolong the agony With tiny glimmers of hope? Redemption was paid her due long ago And only solace remains, To quell the incessant torment. Day after day, survival becomes the mantra And the elements wish to have their way with us. We eke out an existence, With little comfort to bear the load And time is running on empty.

THE VIRTUAL ASSYLUM
Amid a cacophony of chaos, Guttural chants, Vulgar displays and utterances, A drone of twangy, mindless music Played endlessly, through the night. The insipid laments became the backdrop, For screams and rude proclamations. Banging, crashing and thumping Joined a litany of terrifying sounds, Some from the wild animals, Whose home they had invaded, Others from even wilder, belligerent humans, Whose mission it was, To create this virtual asylum. The night was not prepared for throngs, Of disgusting, incessant banter and cackling, In five or more languages. It was not prepared for undisciplined children, Running with fiery sticks, Through the forest of tinder..... Or the others, rolling logs down hillsides, Narrowly missing cars and tents. It was Memorial Weekend in Santa Margarita.... A time to get away....a time to play..... But, courtesy, politeness and hygiene, Were all left at home (if they were ever taught). Never was it mentioned, that the fallen heroes, Were the subject of the event. It seemed to be a cross cultural decision, To eliminate all sense of these things, we pride. And the scenario played out again and again, Like the movie "Groundhog's Day", Until the exodus occurred in a cloud of dust, And sanity was restored to the hillside. We were left with tranquility and simple pleasures, With only the sounds of nature And an occasional appearance by Marty's bear.

OBAMA NATION
We are the new Obama Nation, A controversial conflagration, Mystic fusion for which it stands, Divided we fell into his hands. An all out effort came to be, The beginning of a legacy. An ancient piece of prophecy, That shown from sea to shining sea. His charismatic smile could mask, A changeling set about his task. An infinite array of deeds, Filling voids instead of needs. Lining pockets everywhere, By spreading wealth we cannot spare. “Amnesty for all” will be, The end of jobs for you and me. While healthy doses plan to keep, A nation in the midst of sleep. The clergy and the thieves abound, They haunt the silent underground. Waiting for a time to rule, Half a country played the fool. A stealthy figure will appear, To guide us in our time of fear, And keep the devil wolves at bay, Proclaiming victory for the day. We are a true Obama Nation, Preparing for annihilation. And so "divisibly" she stands, Our nation in Obama’s hands.

THE SMOKER'S RHYME
Puff, puff, puff away, Your lungs may give you one more day. Your hack is bad, your breathe is weak, Your vocal cords won't let you speak. You reek of stale tobacco smoke, And cause the world around to choke. Your nasty habit has to die, Your babies know....you make them cry! Your constant lack of empathy, Will be the death of you, you see! I can't believe the irony, That smoke from you is killing me. The doctor says "It's time to quit". You turn your back and throw a fit. The smoke and stench just has to go. I've had enough, now make it so! Your life will be the price you pay, If you continue one more day. Don't puff, puff, puff away, Just stop your smoking. ......Quit today!

DARKNESS TAUNTING
I’m afraid: Of the darkness Of obsession With shadows And negative space. I trespass: Into blackness Into chaos To find order In the hollow empty shapes. Images secrete profane allure From chasms deep within, Crusting and congealing on the Surface of my skin. Ever-present, ever-changing: Everlasting curse, To search the hollow empty shapes And never know the end.

SPIRIT RIDERS
His raven hair tethered, Masculinity unbound, We nurture the maidens, Who wait to be found. Freely and wildly, We conquer terrain, Forging ahead with, Mountain Walking Cane. Following the Spirit Of the Red Lands, Our instincts are one, in the Spirit's Hands. The horses are free, To run like the wind, Through rocks, trees and desert, Until the trails end. His face reflects wisdom, His power is strong, We trust in his guidance, He can do nothing wrong, Our spirits are soaring, With pride and with grace, They've learned such a lesson, In this Holy Place.

GENERAL MAYHEM
The cry of revolution, Blares out across the land, An iron fist collides, With an over-bearing hand. His destiny is written, In a saga played before, When blood was shed, Amid the streets, And screams heard shore to shore. The victor writes the history, And never tells the story, He skews the truth, And hides the facts, To glamorize his glory. General Mayhem seeks to rule, The country and its masses, Until there is a great divide, Just poor and ruling classes. General Mayhem is in charge, His chaos reigns supreme, He is the leader of his troops, With numbers, seldom seen. The thirst for power must soon be fed, The beast is never quenched, It nurses off the government, And slowly kills the rest. It cannot wean itself, you see….. The addict needs its drugs. While General Mayhem uses force, By sending out his thugs. The lust and greed, Will turn the tide, Oppressing those it saves, Until their freedoms are removed, And they become the slaves, Of those who want the leadership, With Mayhem still in charge, And they direct the evil plan, To take the world-at-large. A sleeping giant will arise, Waking those who pine, For all the things they took away, And finally have the spine, To overtake the deadly curse, That General Mayhem spread, And in the dawn, They never saw….. Many will be dead. And so I tell you, it’s a fact, On this we will agree, When General Mayhem goes away, The people will be free.

Your Sentient Being
You were wise, A seer from a distant past, Your message clear, Your cadence in lines, Prophecy in rhymes, You foretold a future world. Your echo is heard, Knowledge in a word. New decades of strife, Herald warnings for life, As history cycles, And repeats a dire tone. Mother Shipton…Mother Shipton…. From where have you come, To warn us of woe, And trials we must bear. Our minds remain open, To the wisdom you share.
